MUSIC AT GRANVILLE STATE SCHOOL Preparatory to Year 7 students attend weekly music lessons at Granville State School. Prep to Year 3 students engage in singing, piano and percussion playing, theory work and some fun dancing games. Year 4 and 5 students commence recorder and continue with singing and theory work. Year 5 commence guitar lessons in Semester 2. Year 6 and 7 students learn guitar and experience playing the drum kit and piano. Theory work is also continued in the upper years. Extra-Curricular Activities Senior Choir commences in Year 4 and continues to Year 7. The choir competes in the Maryborough Eisteddfod each year and performs at a range of events throughout the year. Junior Choir has recently been formed and will commence performing at school and in the wider community soon. Guitar Group Interested students are able to gain extra guitar practice and performance experience in the guitar group. Currently, students are working on playing the National Anthem on parade. Strings Granville State School has a well established Strings program. Students are able to learn Violin, Viola, Cello and Double Bass. Instrumental Music Students are able to commence Instrumental Music in Year 5. Students can choose from Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, French Horn, Baritone and Percussion.
